My New Favorite Pun EVER

Read in Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dillemna: "The silence of the yams."

I don't know why, but it makes me SO HAPPY.

And I do recommend the book and its rational mantra: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. The info in the book, in which Pollan recommends being a responsible omnivore and how our food cultures have gone a bit nuts, is nothing groundbreaking or astounding--- it's just incredibly well-written and argued, and when you put it all together makes a lot of sense.

The article "Unhappy Meals," which comprises the seed of the book, is over here.

Pollan and Mark Bittman are my two latest food heroes. Deborah Madison remains another.

Here is my new livejournal account. It will probably be mostly friends' only, but perhaps, sometimes, as in this entry, it will be public ;-).
